We've eaten Italian food in Huntington Beach and find a wide range of quality and tastes. But unfortunately, our award for best Italian is a recommendation to drive to Newport Beach to a cute cafe overlooking the Newport Pier. Two offerings, Il Gelato, and Il Farro, are as good as food can be.
The cafe offers affordable prices on same-day lasagnes and herbed chicken, plus ready made sandwiches made with baked-fresh breads.
Il Farro, owned by the same Italian, uses farro in many of its breads and pastas. And everything is made fresh on the spot. Pastas are not created in the morning, nor is anything else. You must order and wait for your food to be prepared fresh. The Maurici Brothers, Domenico and Michele, specialize in exceptional hand-made pastas, breads, desserts, and gelatos using farro.
